Bob Taylor sent this hot rod to me as a gift. I am just stunned he did this, it is a nice piece of history.





Locoracer Tom cleaned and oiled it, and cleaned the tires good.

Still a great running car :)

Oh WOW! I haven't seen one of those since the mid-80's!
I still have the chassis for one - but that is all I have been able to find in the parts bin (no idea what happened to the body or original drive train)

Chassis is at least - the old AJs winnwagon (sp?) but with the open frame inline motor instead of the standard anglewinder.
I always thought cutting the sides off of these would make a reasonable anglewinder for narrower cars, but they aren't adjustable wheelbase...... :violin:

No problem Harry, they need raced, its been a long time since they ran in the group 32 class on a commercial track, somewhere in this mess I have the brass chassis for one, and the other red bell motor for running them anglewinder. I will find them and ship them also. I am just glad they will get used again! I was not sure if you would even like them.

That frame/motor combo was offered by Auto World. The AJs Winnwagon frame was somewhat cut up so the Atlas AT-206 motor would fit.

That is correct info on the Auto world kits, they were big stuff in the mail order business back then!, You could even grab your corded house phone and call in your order! then wait patiently as the mailman brought your order. Prices were great,and they had their finger on the pulse of the commercial racers then too. producing "kits" like these for classes that were popping up around the country. the winnwagon McLaren body fit this chassis also.And were offered in some RIGGEN Race sets. the Minis were considered 1/24,but used the 1/32 chassis. they offered the same car with brass chassis and 16D motor, (I still have one).
