Gilbert 40 Ford 'Semi' Restored

I found a blue Gilbert 40 Ford on ebay that was in pretty good shape with nothing broken. I though it would be cool to make it look 'new' again. I found a photo online of the original decal sheet and redrew it for printing. The 'color' is just the color of the plastic, not paint. I buffed the body and gave it a coat of Testors Glosscote. Then added the decals to make it look original, probably better than original- check it out-

I used WD40 on a q-tip and pipe cleaner then cleaned the wheels with the same and some dawn dishwasher detergent and water.

That is seriously cool! I've always wanted to do one of those. Do the ACG's run on modern tracks ok?

AC Gilbert cars had pickups that were spaced further apart than the braids used on 1/32nd cars. The cars also had a steering front end like a child's wagon, making the cars work on a regular track would be difficult. I had an AC Gilbert track back in the '60s and I bought extra AC Gilbert chassis so I could put other motors, like the Russkit 22, in them and also use regular crown gears in place of the worm gears that the AS Gilbert cars used.
