I have just purchased, separately, an Eldon body (Ferrari P3) and chassis. (I had an identical body/chassis combination long ago, back in the 1960s.)

Anyone know what screws I should use to attach the chassis to the body?

Dan,let me look.I purchased some form Lowes a while back.Be sure and not use an over size one as they will split the post.

Thanks. That was my concern. The body is probably around fifty years old. I'm sure the plastic is relatively brittle (although the rest of the body seems all right).

Dan,I do not remember the size,but maybe this picture will help.About half an inch long and narrow.
I sure wouldn't go any bigger. :)

Once you've got the right size screw, you can try a trick HO racers use when tapping the posts on one of those EXPENSIVE unused vintage AURORA, Atlas, or TYCO bodies. Apply just a small drop of Testor's, Tenax 7-R, or similar liquid cement for plastic models into the post. This will allow the screw to tap into the plastic with less resistance and decrease the chance of splitting or cracking. ALWAYS go slow when tapping a "virgin" post, it's time well spent. You can also sleeve the outside of the post with brass or aluminum tubing to strengthen it (this method is also used to repair badly cracked posts, too). Typically, the plastic used on ELDON bodies was a bit softer, making things a little easier. But - of course - BE SURE to test whatever glue you're going to use on an area inside the body, just to be sure it's compatible with the ELDON plastic.

I'll consider the glue trick. Maybe I'll get an undersized screw and use glue in the post. It doesn't need a lot of structural strength.

Today I picked up some screws and replacement tires (from Hub Hobby in Richfield, Minnesota--very near my house). Everything works great. Of course, the old Ferrari is not a patch on modern cars--but it's fun sending it sliding around the track.

If you are looking for original Eldon screws, I got a large lot of them from a hobby shop that was closing it's doors... brand new original screws.

WOW! Finding NOS parts is the BEST!

I have original Eldon body screws from a Hobby Shop in Edmonton that closed its doors!!! They are new old stock items. I have a ton of old stock Eldon parts from body's to guides... always looking for a trade..

Back in the early 1980's I sent a rather large box of ELDON cars, track and accessories to a guy in Edmonton.
Banked turns and all sorts of cool stuff. I only kept a couple of cars and maybe a controller or two for my collection.
Wonder if he's involved with these fellas.
