I've always admired those Eldon American iron cars from afar. Haven't come around to getting one yet. I really like them though. They capture their time well.

These cars wouldn't hardly move with their dried out hard tires. So I took some take off wheels from a scalextric car and added slot it f1 tires. Had to drill the wheels up a few sizes. Now the cars won't need Eldon specific tires and they move right along and look better too if you don't mind modern look on them.

I have several Eldons, as well as some Strombeckers and Revells. Once in a while I've found them with tires that aren't too bad. Most of the times I've replaced them with urethane tires from Paul Gage. He makes tires to fit all the different rim types these companies used. I often have more fun with these older cars than I do with the newer stuff I normally use for racing.

I use take off wheels from scalextric or slot it so I don't hafta buy eldon only tires. There's a set on the red car above. Completely transforms how they run.

Great finds! Eldons in my opinion are undervalued. But collectors like it that way. I have a few and they are a blast to run. Not that fast but you can make them do all kinds of cool stuff in the curves.

Somebody makes a motor bracket for them if you wanna add a newer motor to move em along faster. I might do that to one for playing but not the best bodies . Speed might hurt em easier.
