One HOT Cougar!

Postby HomeRacingWorld » Mon Nov 10, 2014 3:26 pm

Just arrived from Chicagoland Hobbies. I have to say this car is easy on the eyes :)

Paint work is well done. Clean clear coat as well. So far so good.

Looking good.

The downside? They still have the oversized rear tires on the front. I was assured direct from Scalextric this would be changed. However, it is not. SO the front guide is held out of the slot much higher than it should be. A shame really. How hard can it be to install the correct tires? Too much time spent on making phone apps...too little time on real product is my guess.

However, I am just happy to have it. For myself and most others here, we can swap and tune the car to our liking. So aside from the tires I am very pleased.

That is a great looking little bugger. Maybe when I get that one, I'll finally get around to painting the two I've had waiting forever. Red, green, and black. What a brace of cars that is going to be.

Nice livery! I'll have to pick one up.

Does anyone know if replacement front grills will be available for these? I'd like to replace the grill on the first issue Cougar with the closed headlights grill of this one. Or maybe someone will cast them in resin - nudge, nudge Dave.

I should not have said that. Just very busy today and a little frustrated with them. I am VERY happy with the car as I said.

It is the Trans-Am release of the year for me.

The tire issue screams for one of those "tuning" sets Paul Gage offers up for the T/A cars... :D
(smaller / skinnier fronts and PG goodness in the back) :D

WhooHooo! These were in and sitting on the counter waiting to be placed on the shelves when I got to the track last night! It looks just as nice in real life as it does in the pictures! Now to get her prepped for next week's Trans-Am race! :D

I picked one up at my LHS a week or so ago. I wasn't too pleased with the paint finish on mine, but that was taken care of with some Tamiya compounds and a soft polishing cloth. Now it looks great. The tire issue is no problem as I will most likely change the tires and wheels anyway. :)
