I bet the decal makers are already working on the actual liveries to put on them. Oops! Maybe I shouldn't have said that! *Ignore the previous observation, just an old fart reminiscing about the days when racing was fun, and there were no FlippinG lawyers involved, blast them to hellfire, along with the heirs who hired them.

I will be watching to see the reports from others on the tires. The new compound I have seen on the recent GT models actually works rather well on the lumber.

With some sanding and cleaning, they were hooking up very well on the oval.

Not the grip level a PG or Quick Slick gives, but we were pleasantly surprised by the stock.

Harry, what is your impression of the handling of the car? I race in one club that races Vintage NASCAR and my sidewinder Scaley Torino is very competitive to at times dominate. I am looking to purchase one or two of these cars for this class. Note our rules have a mim weight at 100Gr. with an 18K max (Most using an H&R 18K motor). I have a couple of Monogram cars and a Carrera Torino as back ups but these can not handle with my Scaley Torino.

That is great to hear Harry as our 1/32 non-mag class at the local track requires factory rubber only, so a little bit stickier compound definitely won't hurt my feelings! :)

I like the semi fantasy liveries, making fun of NASCAR. Maybe someone at NASCAR will see the sensibility of granting very cheap licenses for these cars.

I am not sure what Nascar has rights to. Is it the number, paint scheme, sponsors?

I notice that drivers change paint almost every weekend. So each time they change paint schemes that scheme then becomes off limits? What if you make a fantasy car and weeks later one of the drivers has a paint scheme that looks very much like it? Do you have to stop making that car?

It seems odd that sponsors pay big money to have logos painted on the real cars, but then ask for big money to have those same advertisements painted on the little cars.

They have the rights to a big part of it. Then the teams. Sometimes the sponsors as well have a say.

The cost today of that licensing simply puts it out of reach for some toy makers. Or at least those that produce LEGAL and officially licensed models.

Yes, you would think the opposite. That they (NASCAR) would WANT this.

In any case, these cars are what they are. Some will like them...some wont.

Many enjoyed the generic ARTIN Stockers as they were. Low cost, easy to paint, and the chassis could be easily used for other builds.

Same goes here. With the new lower pricing from Scalextric, in 2018 these cars are not far off from that. If ARTIN were still here today, I can promise you they would be close to this.

But the same folks that complained about Artin back then...are the same ones here that complain they cannot get them anymore.

The fact we even HAVE this new mold is huge. Not many will realize what it took to even get this far. For this era of stock car racing to finally be represented. I realize many here only care for Euro/road course cars, but in my neck of the woods, OVALS rule. So do the cars that raced on them. And our hobby is chock FULL of road course/Le Mans models. Too many in fact. Especially when we keep seeing the same cars made over and over and over.

I never thought that NASCAR would start putting down sticky asphalt on their tracks to enhance traction, but they did. Kind of reminds one of the days when we put "glue" in the corners on slot car tracks for the same purpose. If they figured out that reducing the fees and red tape involved with producing more authentic liveries and creating good will with at least a small portion of NASCAR fans they might just slow the exodus of the fan base of the sport.
