Hmmmm heard about some new offerings from Pioneer...and just had a box delivered direct from England.

Time to crack it open. Smells like fresh brewed tea with a hint of American whiskey. Not sure what's going on over there...

Ah ha! Seems we have a little match up here. More to come.

Well you hardcore guys already know :)

But yes, it's a new twin pack coming to dealers. I happen to think it's a great idea. I don't have an exact MSRP, but check with your Pioneer dealer. They are supposed be a little better in value than buying them individually. As they are still in shipment to dealers, I do not see many up for sale yet on this side of the pond. But I know HRW readers are savvy shoppers and will sniff out the best deals as usual.

There are different sets to choose from to start. There will likely be more variety in the future, but this is a great start,

My set is Ford vs Chevy with 2 great looking classics. I did not have either of these in the collection so it was fun to get some fresh paint.

Image

The box art is nice and the packing kept simple. The cars are held in place by a screw in the bottom as well. Of course you get your spare braids and some stickers.

The idea of making a set for the racer is a good one IMHO. As long as the MSRP at our local USA dealers presents a good value, I can see them becoming a successful option.

Nice approach from PIoneer.

Thanks for highlighting this new line of product, Harry.

We have released Racing Twin Packs before, six of them, but that was between 2010-12.

There are four new ones just released, numbered 7 thru 10. The pack opened up by HRW is #10.

Was there a question about MSRP? I think so. To be honest with you all, quite some time ago I gave up indicating MSRP to dealers on the grounds that my suggestions were mostly ignored.

These Racing Twin Packs are supposed to represent good value. Indeed, the trade pack pricing is somewhat less than cars in regular packaging so the price should be less to the consumer. If you find it is not then you should shop around. In my opinion, these Racing Twin Packs should be on the market in the sub $100 region. If they are priced at that level they are good value (compared to regular Pioneer pricing), if they are not priced appropriately......they're not good value.

Many North American stockists do not show all Pioneer stock online. I'm really not sure why this is but do understand it can be time-consuming to add/amend/change products in an online catalog. As a consequence of this, you may sometimes find it difficult to locate the item you are searching for. With this in mind, I fully understand that many US based buyers are purchasing internationally. This is a growing trend for most brands. I recommend that you buy from a dealer you trust that offers good service to you.

On Monday, I'll publish a list of the North American dealers that are stocking these twin packs.

Anyhow, for now, I'll go back to my American Whisky with a dash of Earl Grey tea. Yes, Harry was correct in his assumption but the ratio was wrong.

Regards to all,

Jules

Nice idea, but for those of us with three lane tracks, it opens up a quandary - what to get for the third car?

True, but it would need to be a Challenger or a Javelin to keep the theme going, do Pioneer make either of those yet?
