Yes for how many years did a modeler dream of actual chrome paint and how many bought into the false advertising of so many other "chrome" paint products? It sure is a neat product. Not sure how they do it but it is probably some nanoparticle deal. And the smell is mostly likely from its alcohol base.

I found out one thing you can't do with it- buff it. It will turn a weird dingy grey.

As with most things, the internet sellers have by far the best prices on these pens. Dick Blick's art supplies have them around $9, there are several sellers on Amazon under $10 where you may get free shipping, but shipping for these is pretty cheap anyway. By the way, the refills are a bargain, as are the replacement tips.

There doesn't seem to be much you can do with it, except use floor wax on it. Has anybody tried a water based clear, if there is such a thing?

I read that some guys use the refill with an airbrush and they get great results. Use the HL 40% discount and you get it pretty cheap.

If you mean Future, then yes, that works fine, just like it does on everything else. The important thing is to make sure there has been a long drying/curing time before coating it. I haven't needed to coat mine at all.

Ernie, I agree with your experience. You need to shake it, get a good flow and load it on in one coat with absolutely no drying time. If it even dries a few seconds, the second coat seems to ruin it.

Yes, that seems to be the same experience I've had, whether doing small touch ups on HO slot car chrome or larger, broader areas.

Yep. When you get a dud finish, its because it wasn't shaken enough. Let it dry forever, then do it in one. That's it.

I was able to find those chrome pens at a art supply store called called Blick,s , haven't used them as of yet but with the reviews I have been reading here I can't wait

It's a bit of a strange name, but Dick Blick sells good quality art supplies. If they carry the Molotow Chrome pens, then that may be a good source; as they are a volume/discount supplier.
