Wheels Compared - Scalextric New Javelin/Camaro

Postby HomeRacingWorld » Thu Mar 09, 2017 1:05 pm

So I have looked back on the wheel sizes and also purchased a new caliper. I was off a few thousandths, but for the most part very close.

However, in the spirit of accuracy I decided to measure and update the review.

Here is the Javelin rear wheel.

Here is the rear wheel on original sidewinder. I used the new 70 Camaro as reference

Just a size view.

Hope this helps.

WOW
That's a big difference. :o
It looked in the video like it had plenty of power off the get go. :auto-driving:
Maybe that's why it ate up the stang. :violin:
Thanks Harry :text-bravo:

Interesting, I wonder why they would change the wheel and size. Seems to me they could have saved some money by using the same. Unless it just looked too small on the Javelin.

Isnt the wheel size change something to do with being compatible with Slotit tires?

Sharp photography there too!

Yes, thanks.

They are supposed to match the Slot.it, yes. The BTCC models were fine. But the Javelin and Porsche 911 are off.

Again, not a big issue for stock or PG tires, a little sanding had them fine. But for silicone tire fit...it's a little challenge.

Cheers, I just picked up on Harry's discovery of uneven sided plastic wheels on some new models....that really is a lapse in awareness by someone.

If a wheel doesn't fit the tire I plan on using, I take some Pactra pin stripe tape and apply it where needed. The wider stuff is used for building out the rib, and the thinner stuff goes on the shoulders. I always glue up (IC2000) or apply some Sally nail varnish to finish it off and sand as needed. I have no desire to try to sand silicone to fit, so the tape comes to my rescue and minimizes the differences.
