What is the tape used for?

The tape is used to build up/increase the diameter of the wheel edge. This helps the silicone tires fit properly. And it works as I just did it last night. Pretty easy.

For PG/Urethane users or stock, it's a non-issue. I hardly noticed any difference and sanding the tires had them flat and true in just a few passes.

Only you can decide if this is going to stop you from owning it. With so many advanced racers exchanging stock gear for after-market upgrades, as well as stock or urethane tire users, I don't imagine it will stop very many who want the car.

I meant the tape on the chassis? Looks like duct tape

Racie; the duct tape :lol: is Professor Motor 0.016'' lead weight. About 1'' long by .25'' wide. Car weighs in @ about 80 grms. Works great on my Deplorable Raceway! davek :flags-waveusa:

OK put a pair of scuffed PG tires on the Javelin. They were not glued or trued. From the pictures you can see that because the outside of the tires are different diameters the tires are cupped in the middle. Also the wheels appear to be slipping inside the tire coming out of turn 4. 1st quarter of the front straight the car looses traction then speeds up about half way down the straight. 20 lap time of 1.08.32 fast lap 3.33 secs. Slower than stock tires by 1 sec. Gluing and truing should correct this.

Noticed this group of pictures didn't come out upside down. Can't figure out way the shot of the cars will not come out in the correct orientation.

Use an image editor and resize to 800 pixels wide and save it as like you see it.

Since you are not using a photo hosting and posting as attachment, it will rotate it at the lowest pixels wide if it's over 800 pixels.

I just received mine from Clover Leaf (thanks guys!): some first impressions:

1. The finish is fantastic.I find it hard to think that one could get a paint finish better than this on a slot car.
2. The bright, shiny, garish grille looks very sixties-model like.
3. LOVE the fact that the front & rear valances are now part of the body! This saves me hacking it off the chassis and gluing to the body to avoid the unsightly gaps opening when you add some float to the body.
4. While I agree with the concerns that others expressed around going to inline on this car compared to sidewinder on the class mates, this is not as big of a deal for me due to the way we race in our group. The whole car lends itself to race prep and I am sure it will be very fast when prepared well. I will take it to our weekly races tomorrow evening and compare it to a well prepared, pretty quick Scaley 1970 Camaro that I have.

I like it very much.

Yes, I tried to note that about the body/chassis in the bottom view.

Let me know if yours loosens up without any chassis sanding please? All I did was back them off.
