I enjoyed the written and video reviews Harry.....fantastic as usual!

I do have a question. I prefer no-mag racing 98% of the time. If one wanted to, could you dremel around the edge of the magnet (where the ridge is)and then remove the magnet this way? Seeing as it's the bottom of the car, I wouldn't care about the underside cosmetic damage due to the dremel. If this could be done, it would avoid more probable damage by taking the car apart (at least when I attempt to take one apart). If this is possible, it would be a game changer for me and would mostly likely lead to yet another slot car class addiction....... :D

Thanks. I did try that but the mag is stubborn.

But to be honest, it's not very strong. You can still get plenty of action.

Great review and echos my feelings on these cars. I am VERY happy to see the liveries are correct, unlike the first non-tabacco ones. Not a user, just like things to look correct.

Aren't Formula One cars from that era supposed to be overpowered and cranky to drive? (insert sly smile and evil eye emoticons here)
Sorry for the silly joke, I couldn't resist - but a great job on the review (as always). I particularly appreciate your warnings to our friends who may not have the technique to enjoy driving something like this, especially on a typical home layout with a standard fixed voltage power supply. Maybe on a larger than average track with wide radius corners and long straights, but not many of us typically have the space at home for that type of set up. Also, very good of you to warn of the pitfalls in trying to disassemble one of these models. Another job well done, sir!

Have to revisit this thread to thank the guys for racing these this past weekend.

We killed some hours well past midnight dicing these cars around.

They are not for everyone, I get that. They are tough to work on, get that too.

But they are worth it. The fun on my smaller track is you really have to pick your passing times. The open wheels can cause some spectacular crashes and to avoid that, you have to take care and choose the right time.
