One other quick note: At least on mine, the rear body screws were shorter than the fronts. It probably would spoil the looks with a long screw sticking up in front of the rear spoilers!

That is great news on the Paul Gage tires! I received my 917K yesterday and WOW! I can't wait to get it to the track - it is a SWEET looking machine!
Bravo Carrera Bravo!

Hope this isn't a redundant question - will this Carrera Porsche 917K be a good running mate for a Fly Ford GT-40? I just bought the Fly car used from an HRW post and it runs great on my wood road course. It's my first non-Trans Am car and I'm gonna need some period correct rivals if I want to do a series.
As far as I can tell the Fly GT-40 is stock, not even any attempt to create float for the body. If this 917K is a good match I have an affordable way to grow this class of cars.
Also, what other 1/32 cars are available that raced against the Ford GT's during that era?

Thanks for the car ideas. I did a search last night and came up with the Ferrari 330, and even the 250. Yes, I'm flexible about the 'era', as long as there's some overlap among cars. I hadn't thought of including Can Am cars of which there are many to consider.
Yes, it's ideal not to mix brands, but to get a full set of replicas it can be needed. My Trans Am field is mostly Pioneer and Scalextric cars which are very competitive, but I also have the SCX 'Cuda, and some RMS resin bodied Javelins and a Pontiac Trans Am mounted on Scalextric chassis. Frankly, the 'Cuda and resin cars aren't as good as the others since I don't tune the chassis except for rear tires and the slightly higher center of gravity on them hurts handling.

I picked up both of the Carrera 917's from Bruce last week. All I can say is WOW! I literally opened the box, removed mag, put it in the track. I mean that sucker is silky smooth and quick. I'm not doing a thing to it!

Great review Harry.
Sounds like Carrera has another homerun on this one.
I can only imagine the possibilities of liveries, and food for thought of other cars to come
in this series.
Good Work Carrera
