Ok, the results. It seemed like it took a long time to get the qualifying done, and that was because we had over 100 cars entered.
Would you believe that there were 114 cars?!?!?! This broke the old record of 89 cars (I believe) we had once at the Sassy Shop.
And for the 1st time, we had a "Grand Marshall" for one of our events...
Starting things off with the 1/32 Hot Rod class, we had 24 entries. With a 1.25 Index, Andy's Chevy Nomad was TQ with a 1.2598 run. Not far behind was Robin with Golden Rod Vette (1.2629) and Dana with the Essex Wire Mustang (1.2635).
The top 3 qualifiers all got eliminated in the 1st round, so it turned out to be anybody's race. And in the end, that "anybody" turned out to be #10 qualifier Papa Mike with the SPE prepped #9 Coupe.
Next up were the Stock Eliminators running an Index of 1.45. In a field of 21 entries, Robin with the #2 Coupe beach racer was TQ with a 1.4545 run. Close behind was Taylor with the Purp Camaro (1.4548) and Matthew with #92 (1.4583). Robin would make it to the 2nd round where she got eliminated by the Tank driven by Jim. Taylor and Matthew both ran well, and ended up facing each other in the final. When the race was over, the win light was flashing in Taylor's lane.
In what turned out to be the most popular class, the Comp Eliminators came out to play with a 1.25 Index. With 30 cars entered, Jungle with his L'il GTO was TQ with a 1.2510 pass. Close behind were Matthew running his GTO Judge (1.2596) and Papa Mike with his AMC Matador (1.2635). Jungle would get as far a the 3rd round before being eliminated by Taylor running the SPE prepped Charger called Casper. Matthew and the Judge would also get to the 3rd round, where Jonathan send him back to the trailer running another SPE prepped entry, this one being the Mi T Fine dragster. Taylor and Jonathan both ended up in the final. At this point, there wasn't a prouder man in the room than Mr. SPE himself since he had 2 cars in final. The race was over before Taylor left the line, as Jonathan redlighted and gave the win to Taylor.
With a .990 Index, the Top Eliminators had their turn. In a field of 28 entries, Matthew and his Matt's Rat entry was TQ with a .9915 pass. Behind him were Jonathan running the SPE 41 dragster (.9919) and Jim with his Mad Dog entry (.9933). The Mad Dog got put on the trailer in the 1st round by Andy's new Jungle Jim dragster. The Matt's Rat made it to the 2nd round where the Buzzin Dozen put him away. The Buzzin Dozen would make it to the semi's where Papa Mike's Opel sent it packing. Jonathan worked his way to the final with the SPE 41 entry to face Papa Mike and his Opel. When the race was over, it was Papa Mike who came out the victor.
For the 1st time, we separated out the Funny Cars and ran them in their own class. And we ran them using a Pro Tree and no Index. In a field of 11 cars, Matthew was TQ with his Mongoose entry with a blistering .9364 pass. 2nd was Cliff with the Bad Medicine entry and 3rd was Jonathan with the Flame Turd car (sorry, the paper with their times is missing). The Mongoose and Bad Medicine mowed down their respective competitors and met in the final. Both had just run .94's in the semi's, so it was looking to be a good race. Matthew and his Mongoose were ready, and came away with the win with a .9457 pass.
The whole event once we started qualifying was about 6 hours long. Not too shabby when you have 114 cars to deal with... :auto-checkeredflag:
