So....another round of drag racing is in the books!!

Again, a big thank you to Rick of SPE and John of Sassy Racing Engines for giving us a place for a fun day of comaderie and some good racing.

We were able to figure out the Trackmate system a bit better this time around. Thanks to Jungle for giving us a printer and some ink as well, we are now able to print out the qualifying results. This really helped to move the whole program along much better, as we do no longer have to write down on paper or input the Q times into a spreadsheet. We also decided to run all the qualifying 1st before moving into the elimination rounds. This also helped to move things along more smoothly.

In the Hot Rod class using a 1.250 index, Itchie with his White Fish Cuda was TQ with a run of 1.2533. Of the 20 cars entered, only 3 broke out.

In the Stock class using a 1.450 index, Itchie was once again TQ with his Purp Camaro in a field of 21 cars. Sorry, I don't have the sheet that shows the Q times.

In the Comp class using a 1.250 undex, Andy was the TQ with 8 ball Cobra in a field of 17 cars. Once again, I do not have the sheet that has the Q times for this class.

In the Top Elim class using .990 index, Cliffie was the TQ with a 1.0180 run with his "Loco" motive entry. I think it's a Dodge or Plymouth of some kind. There were 27 entries in our most popular class.

In the elimination rounds, we have cars that qualify from 16th on down duke it out for the 16th spot on the main ladder.

In the Hot Rod class, 16th qualifier Matt with his Gulf entry managed to beat out 4 other entries to preserve his spot on the main ladder, only to be taken out immediately in the 1st round by the TQ car White Fish of Itchie's. Itchie's White Fish, even though he broke out both times made it to the semi's because the other drivers red lighted. Itchie then got taken out by the #4 qualifier 8 Rail dragster driven by Jim. On the other side, #3 qualifier Jim with his 57 Chebbie entry worked his way thru and earned the right to race his 8 Rail dragster in the final. I don't recall who drove which car, but the 57 Chebby won the race with a 1.2669 run against a losing 1.2504 run by the 8 Rail dragster. Yes, 1.2504!! It was a holeshot victory!!!

In the Stock class, Papa Mike took his #18 qualifier Matador though the field of 6 cars to earn the #16 spot in the main event. And then promptly took out the #1 qualifier of Itchie's Purp car! But that was it for the Matador, as the Vomet entry took him out in the 2nd round. The Vomet would go on to the final round. On the bottom side, #6 qualifier Jim with his Tank entry worked his way into the final to face off against the Vomet. With a winning run of 1.5145, Jim and the Tank took the win light.

In the Comp class, we had Jim's Terrible T entry facing off against Jungle's Rapid Roy entry fighting for the #16 spot. Jungle won the race and earned the right to face the TQ entry of Andy's 8 Ball. The 8 Ball would make to the semi round where it was taken out by the #4 qualifying entry Mi-Te-Fine dragster of Itchie's. On the bottom side, once again it was Jim coming thru, this time with his new work in progress Silver Fox entry (in honour of a great friend Wally Houlton). The Silver Fox and Mi-Te-Fine faced each other in the final, and when the race was over, we had our 1st double breakout! The Mi-Te-Fine's slower time of 1.2432 was the winner against the 1.2394 time of the Sliver Fox. Now that's close!!!

With 11 cars vying for the #16 spot for the main event in the Top Elim class, it was a tough way to earn the right to face off against the TQ. But the #16 qualifier Shaker entry driven by Cliffie fought his way thru 4 rounds and earned that right. But alas, that meant he had to go against his #1 entry, the "Loco"motive. No matter, the Shaker took the "Loco"motive down in stride, and in fact took everything else down on it's way to the final!! On the bottom side, there was no Jim this time, as #6 qualifier entry, the Mongoose driven by Matthew fought it's way thru and earned the right to go against the Shaker. At the far end, the win light and a 1.0301 pass was being shown on the side of the Mongoose.

Congrats not only to the winners, but also to everyone that came. There are some really cool looking cars being built, and while some still need some tuning, it sure is cool to see them blasting down the SPE drag strip. Sorry, I did not get any pics...

Not sure when the next race will be. There was some discussion about New Years weekend (Dec 30th), but nothing was set in stone. Itchie also hinted at having some racing in his shop, so keep your eyes and ears peeled here for any news about when he might have them.

We will have at least a couple more races this year. As of now, we don't have a date for the next one yet, but I am guessing sometime late June/early July.
