1/24 AMT Fiat altered

Just starting this little beauty! Its an old AMT double dragster kit Fiat body. The chassis is scratch built brass, motor is a H&R Lightning, gearing is 9/33. Rear tires are Daves urethane vintage slicks, wheel are CB steelie's rear/ Front are a very heavy duty Marx Friction car set. Front tires are also Shotgun Dave's "littles".
Engine will be a blown/ Injected early Hemi. Color is undecided, but leaning toward metal flake purple to keep with the early 60's theme. Built to run in the AA/FA Class. Should be a runner!

That looks like a mean machine. You are really building out the 1/24ths at a fast pace!

There are so so many potential drag racing subjects, and they can be more realistically modeled, since here is little chance of car to car 'contact' at the strip...

I haven't done any slot drag racing or building, but it looks like it would be fun -

They are fun! and like you say, lots of subject matter!. I am partial to the vintage drag cars. Since I spent a LOT of time racing 1/1 drag strips in the Midwest, and in the south, I have some good background on them.
And yes the cars can be built a bit more fragile than our roundy cars. I can hardly wait till I get the last section of my track built! Its an adrenaline rush just like the real ones! Watching one of them get sideways outta the hole, and getting air under the front tires is a hoot. And then a slower leave catching up mid track is as fun as it gets.

Made a little more progress on this one last night. Still have some small details left, and to add some wheelie bars to the unfinished rear frame section. I made a couple of test runs on this, and man is ever quick! the short wheelbase, and narrow slicks make for a ride very similar to its 1/1 counter parts! Should be some fun races in the Altered classes.
