Last nights S.C.O.R.E. action from Grill National Speedway saw the annual Turkey Night race for the USAC midgets ( 100 lap show ) and the 50 lapper for the USAC sprints. Here's the pictures from a action packed night, as always enjoy!
(11/14/12) Either you like Grill National or you don't. Those that like the tricky tri-oval enjoy the challenge. For those who don't, GNS is like that high school sweetheart that usually drove you crazy, but, once in awhile, was, let's say, "accommodating". Wednesday night, thirteen of the SCORE boys arrived at the Grill's doorstep with hope in their eyes, some were pleased with the results, most were not.
After being denied at least a couple of wins in close races so far this season, Lee Greenawalt finally took a trip to victory lane as he nipped a trio of competitors by a mere point in the USAC sprint event. Additionally, Dave Kurtz's win in the last segment over Mike Lengel averted another tie for the feature honors. As it was, Lengel bested Kurtz by a wreck for the runner-up position while Dave Balloch took fourth. Tim Musser rounded out the top five in the 50 lapper.
The eleventh annual "Turkey Night 100" for USAC midgets evolved into one of those nasty races for which Grill National is infamous. There was alot of close competition, to be sure, but a lot of mishaps. Fittingly, despite eight miscues, a determined Carey Becker could not be denied a one point victory over Lengel. Another marker behind, Balloch beat Homer Hiester with less wrecks in a tie-breaker for third place. After a dismal outing in the sprint car show, Dyke Becker rebounded to earn fifth overall just a single point down to Balloch and Hiester.
