Maddog17jr - Yes, we do custom drawn cars - check out the site - there is a link in the sig. You can take a look at the stuff we do and there is contact info there as well.

I have to update, but there are actually over ONE HUNDRED modified bodies to choose from as well.

Mayberryman - I checked out those tracks and it looks like a great program you are running there. We focus on the asphalt stuff since that is the local tradition. Long Island never had a dirt track - too sandy I guess.

I haven't posted too much on these Super Modifieds. They make for an unusual subject - they are made to loosely look like like ISMA Super Modifieds run out of Oswego, New York.

I built this one up for a brand new commercial slot car establishment/building currently being built in Mississippi - Great to see a new commercial track opening up in 2016!

SUPER MODIFIED-

Image

Like their real life counterparts, these things looks pretty fast just standing still.

RIGHT SIDE-

Image

They are asymmetrical single seaters - you can see the right sidebars hanging way out.

LEFT SIDE-

Image

Here is view from the left side with the injected motor practically hanging off the left side.

PURPOSEFUL STANCE-

Image

Overall stance from another view.

MOTOR AND DRIVER EQUIPPED-

Image

When dressed up with the nymodifieds.com 'injected motor kit' and the 'driver kit', this built-for-speed slot car starts to take on a more scale appearance.

SHORT TRACK SETUP-

Image

Using the rear axle hole at the front of the Womp based chassis, gives this car a short wheelbase, which can really help it get around the inside lanes of fast wooden ovals.

LEAN INTO IT-

Image

The driver has a bit of head tilt, leaning into the turns. The top of the helmet is also sanded/flattened a bit and gives the functional Wing some extra support - transmitting real downforce to the chassis.

LEFT HALF WEIGHT-

Image

This top look shows the big offset - the whole right side of the brass chassis is lopped off - and the position of the Injected Motor kit is shown clearly.

SCALE VERSUS THINGIE?-

Image

Realistic wheel inserts, along with the other detailed bits, gives this super lightweight bodied race car quite a bit of added realism. Goes like a commercial track thingie but it has enough scale touches that you feel like you are racing *something*.

SCALE RACE DRIVER-

Image

Scale driver is one of three optional heads that come with the driver bust kit (Race, Vintage, Street). Real rubber steering wheel adds dimension to the look.

MOTOR AND FUEL CELL-

Image

The injected motor kit comes with a set of press-fit metal injector stacks, and a fuel filler cap - all to help fool the eye and add dimensionality.

DID I MENTION THESE ARE FAST?-

Image

This shot kind of shows how low these cars really are. The wings really work pushing the cars down into the turns, along with the radically offset chassis made of heavy brass, short wheelbase, and steam roller tires - well - it really makes these cars get around the oval fast - 'motor' them up, and they are fast, like *track record fast*...

There has been a bit of talk about the latest "Tour Modified" chassis out on the market. Recently J-K Products added an offset oval track Modified chassis with a 4 inch wheelbase to their line up.

I think this is the FIRST TIME EVER a real manufacturer has ever made an 'oval track only' chassis - with an actual asymmetrical pan. Was there ever another one?

The really great news here is - these are made to fit the nymodifieds bodies *perfectly*!

J-K PRODUCTS MODIFIED BUILD-

Image

Again, like their real life counterparts, these things looks pretty fast just sitting in the pits.

GET OUT AND GET UNDER-

Image

Here is how the chassis looks underneath - interesting cutouts offer a weight savings and a little more torsional flex.

OFFSET LIKE THE REAL THING-

Image

These are offset just like the real NASCAR Tour Modifieds!

NERFS AND BUMPERS-

Image

We build these up just like the other nymodfifieds Tour Mods, with all the nerfs and bumpers.

BIG REAR TIRES-

Image

One potential draw back of the new J-K Modified Chassis is it has a fixed rear axle/bushing hole. It seems you need a relatively tall .910 tire to make parma tech tool clearance, which some racers may find a little limiting. Obviously it can be hogged out or changed, but it wont be as easy to adjust as the adjustable FCR bushings would be.

CUSTOM BUILT TRACK CAR-

Image

This one was another custom drawn and built car for that new commercial slot car track going up in Mississippi. If you look closely you an see the 'vintage' driver figure head (open face helmet) used on the Cavalier Modified here.

What is the rear track (outside of rear tire to outside of rear tire)?

Well the 6 lane oval here in Raytown-International-Raceway is up and running, l have built about 15 sprint cars so far, and the wings on these really give these cars a bite.....Now with the modified I got from you ayear ago it has gotten a lot of interest looks like a lot of folded body orders coming your way....The JK chassis is verry timly.....great stuff.....

Had an opportunity to check out one of the JK chassis at the local track and have to say I like it!
I hope it takes off here locally - if it does, I may just have to jump in and build a couple of these!

I like the idea of bunching the cars up, be nice if track mate could slow the cars down to a crawl on a track call instead of just killing the power.....

It would not be difficult to wire the track so that there was a lower voltage in the event of a track call, the hitch is that Trackmate freezes the timer and also stops counting laps. If the track was wired so that you could switch between full and reduced voltage instead of doing a track call the race director could switch to the lower voltage while Trackmate kept on counting. For races like that it probably would be better to go with laps rather than timed heats. This scheme would not work very well if you were doing lane rotations because some heats would have more time under yellow flag conditions than others.

It would be nice to switch off the lap counter in a low voltage track call.....
