TRACKMATE RESTARTS

Postby JIMMYX3 » Thu Oct 11, 2012 3:44 pm

Can anybody that uses the trackmate system for counting laps tell me how do you set the cars up in the second segment? Do they all stay put and move over a lane? or do they all go to the start finish line again to start the second segment?

We just leave them in place and move over to the next lane.

We do 2 different ways here...

If doing a timed race, we move the cars to the next lane during the rotation. Most laps in the set time wins. If case of a tie, the guy who traveled further on that lap is ahead.

We also do a Championship method where guys earn points according to their finish. 1st gets 5 points, 2nd gets 3, 4rd gets 2, and 4th gets 1. Cars are lined up at the start line at each heat race. After everyone has run their car in all 4 lanes, points are tallied and the most points wins. In case of a tie, we go by most wins. If still a tie, we use the fastest lap as a tie breaker.

We've been doing it the same way - noting the number of feet completed on the last lap, and then bunching all the cars back together for the restart. It is a little more difficult than simply shifting the cars over, but it makes for more tense racing.

All of our club tracks are marked off in tenths of laps; when the heat is over the tenths are recorded on a paper, then the cars rotate to their new lane for the next heat and start from the start/finish line. We find that this is close enough to give accurate results, we will have a tie about once a year. TrackMate keeps track of the full laps; then the total of the tenths from the 4 heats are added in for a final result.
