"Blueprinting" a new series

Not really blueprinting...but I am working on a new dirt series of cars and I finally got around to fitting the right parts where I wanted them.

First, this is NOT a bash on these Carrera cars. I am VERY thankful for them the way they are. But this classic car needed more attention. There was simply no way I could let this icon of American Iron just stay stock. It needed to be hacked, slashed, & generally abused so it could mix it up with the rest of the cars we have been planning & building.

Image

My first thoughts on wheels were the new Steelies from Slot Car Corner. I love'em...and will use them on the next one. But although they call these an "F1" type wheel, the 15x8 sized ones just scream modified to me.

Image

Second was tire choice. I have used these PG tires in the past, so I went with them. Still need some sanding here and there...but I like these meathooks.

I will show some of the chassis mods soon. Right now? It is NOT very pretty. When I am just starting to line out a model...things can get a little nasty. Grind here, cut there, slash this and that...you know how it goes. Replaced rear axle and crown with Slot.it. Keeping the stock motor with a 9 to 27 setup for now. Also a mod to the front guide. May not do this again...might go B Nova and make it much easier.

But so far I think it's coming along nicely. Runs great. More to come as I fine tune it.

Harry ... I'm lovin' it! The best of both worlds ... a Hot Rod with numbers on it.
Now you just gotta put in the weeds ... LOL ... J Y D

P.S. you couldn't have picked a better looking wheel for that set-up ... it's Kick-A$$

Wow is that got a great look to it Harry!

Just the right stance and that wheel and tire combo makes it look great!

I always wanted that car and the black '57 carrera made also.

They would fit in nicely with my field of '55 chevies I have currently.

I can't wait to see more pics as this one progresses along!

Thanks for sharing!!!!

Wayne

Thanks guys, it's turnin' into a decent runner :) Not sure how low I will go, I think some offset might be on order.

Jeremy...just another series for your oval. haha

DAVE, man what a great car. Glad to see you planning that project. Long time coming. :)

Some chassis pics

Radiused the entire chassis, had to sand a little away for the Slot.it gear to clear but the stock pinion works well with it.'

Lot of work getting the new guide in...like I said I think the B Nova conversion will be the better option.

Finished painting the wheels and tire profiling. Looks good enough for me :)

Fun mod. Not too time consuming either. Ready to tear it up tonight!

I really like the look of this Harry, and did have intentions to copy one for myself. Then I seen something on my shelf that I brought on my visit that we talked about. So I`m now going in a different direction. So many choices
