Well, got a little further this afternoon.

Image

Hood and nose in place. Had to do some good wet sanding to clean up the fit, they had plenty of overlap. Not perfect, but clean enough I suppose.

Image

Used my Dremel and cutting disc to get rid of the belly pan. then used 1/4 sanding barrel to clean it up and finally sandpaper by hand.

Image

The strip fits fine. That is if I use it. Still in the chassis planning stages.

Image

Now I am out of parts that I planned to use. That's ok because sometimes that is a good thing for me. I get "ansy" and start hacking too much and stuff does not go like I want it. Having to step back and actually think about things always helps

Expert? No, Locoracer Tom won't be here until Saturday:)

If it is my shoulder you refer to, please wear eye protection and a blast shield. I just soldered (attempted) some stuff and it is unfit to post on this family-friendly forum.

Not a design most use, just came up with something that would fit and work. So far so good.

Shaft is not perfectly lined with the axle, but VERY close and should be ok. Testing will tell the tale.

I have no clue. I think the SL-1 might be better. These little suckers would be fast enough I thinks.

I have motors for you either way anyhow, so your covered.

It is good to have a plan.

Unlike the way things are done here at Waterhead Engineering.

Tom is coming Saturday and you know he will build a better one and make it look twice as easy.

Well, she is a roller :)

Set the width by what the kit had. Figured that is close enough :)

Now to work out a guide.

This might be too late for you, but the slimlines fit better turned 90 degrees so that the flats are
on the sides. You still will have enough ground clearance.

Oh oh, somebody who knows what they are doing! :)

Too late, but it fits ok.

Thanks Dave, I appreciate your help here. You know I am going to booger this up sooner or later.

Just went with a straight tube mount for the guide. I could have made a separate tongue at the right angles, just decided this was just as good.

Image

Used 3/16" brass tube which sleeves it nice and snug.

Image

Not the traditional route, but it will work. No slop to speak of and strong.

Well, have a runner now. Motor is just glued in and just working out any issues.

9/27 Slot.it gears. Slot.it wood guide. SCC Wheels for testing, might go to 15x7....not sure yet.

Fun though! Still plenty to do, but she is trackin' now.

Harry that is seriously unreal. Great job. Its amasing what you have done in the short amount of time. You have made a hard buildup due to the size of these midgets look easy. Now stop slacking off & finish it already :)
