I prefer that anyone running foams do not soak the tires in any "gloo" please. I still run foams here on some cars, but they are clean. Most of you know our track, those who do not, I will post some pics. Not a big deal, just don't want that stuff on my surface. I think you guys understand.

Don't think many of you do such horrible things anymore, just throwing it out there. :)

So any foams that are clean, new, silicone coated (Barfed on) or even softened with a little lighter fluid is fine. Just clean off the STP please? :)

Hi Razor,

I've built that kit. It's a very nice model and make a cool slot car. You can see mine in the picture I posted above. It is however a "super modified" dirt track racer and not really a suitable entry for this event. All the cars entered have to be modeled after the Monogram "hot shot" midget from the 60's. There are plenty of examples in the pictures in this thread. Sources for appropriate bodies are also listed in the thread. I will be posting an additional source as soon as I receive a sample of his work next week.

Questions for Harry and Jeremy!

These questions were posed by a couple of racers over on SCI.

1. What voltage will be used when running the cars. The racer was concerned about the potential damage if the cars were raced at too high a voltage and deslot.

2. For those using the Revell Midget (Harry), what adhesive do you recommend that will keep the model in one piece in the event of a crash?

Thanks fellas.

Man, you get all the cool kits.

I'll take it off your hands. I know you need the space in that tiny basement of yours :)

Roll bars are cool. No cages please. At some point, I will get around to fabricating roll and nerf bars for all my cars. Hopefully when Gene posts his tutorial, I'll have more success. The 1/8 brass tubing I was trying to use is hard to bend!

Body and chassis choices. Here's a pictorial history of the suitable bodies and chassis I've found and used to date. I do have the current Revell offering but forgot to take a picture. That one is on Ebay quite a bit and a very nice built example appears in this thread as well.

My track info:

Image

5x16 foot routed/braided. PARMA 25 OHM control, Pyramid 26KX for power. 12 volts. PC Lap Counter software/webcam timing.

Surface is flat latex, but heavily rubber'd in over the years. Just about any tire will work well if clean and sanded true.
