Hi there. I'm trying to find a 1/32 slot car that has a body like a modern late model dirt oval race car. I'm also curious what people think is the best performing brand of car right out of the box. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Are you racing on wood or plastic? with magnets or without? Nobody makes a turnkey late model slot car. If you are looking at RTR cars with plastic chassis that models any kind of modern oval racing car, Nascar type cars done by Scalextric, Carrera and SCX is about your only option. I don't think many if any are being produced currently by any of them. That leaves you with buying used or old stock. Of those the SCX Pro was the fastest, but they are getting hard to come by. Scalextric would be #2, Common (non pro) SCX #3 and Carrera #4. if you really want a dirt late model, as others have said, you will probably have to build that yourself. If you like old school Womp chassis with a vacuform late model type bodies, I think can still be had from Smith Scale Speedway.They are severely lacking in scale detail but are fun to race anyway. There have been some other vacuform or photo paper late model and Whelen type bodies made by a couple of individuals. Reality Raceways and SRP come to mind. I have no idea if any of them are currently being produced. SRP used to sell on Ebay. As for a fast RTR type chassis for a body you find from one of the above or make yourself, just look around for a bare Slot.it or Racer Group C, DP or LMP type chassis and add the body of your choosing.

We offer oval track cars - mostly the asphalt Modifieds. They are tough and fast.

There are some threads in this oval track section that feature the NY Mod cars; the Christmas mod is a 1/32 piece.

BRASS CHASSIS 1/32 SPORTSMAN-




1/32 resin body fitted to a stretched Womp - something we built up for some racers who wanted to have tougher commercial style class racing at home.

It would help if you posted pictures of some of the 1:1 cars that you are interested in. You might be able to find a 1/32nd model kit that you can use for a start, otherwise a resin body would be the way to go. resin casters come and go and often they may only offer a particular body for a short time. RMS Resins may have something that will work for you. You could use the chassis from any RTR 1/32nd car that has the right wheelbase. We like to use Slot.it HRS or HRS2 chassis that are adjustable.

This is an example of what I'd like to replicate. 1/32 size,. I want a fast chassis but the ability to run on home tracks still.

I Googled SRP Slot Cars and came up with the website. This is the place you want. No turn keys but he makes the bodies. Hot Laps Racin does have both bodies and RTR cars of that sort in 1/32nd scale. The RTR cars use a Parma Womp chassis and thy can be ordered with a 16D or Ripper motor.

If you are inclined to do it yourself, they have predecorated bodies for $20 bucks. You can't by a blank body, paint and decals for that. By the way any body set up for an unmodified Womp womp chassis has a 3" wheelbase in case you are inclined to try to mix and match a different style of chassis to body. A 3" wheelbase is way out of scale for any kind of saloon type body in 1/32. Womps were never marketed for scale enthusiasts anyway. But if you look around the web you will find many examples of folks who do some pretty fine scale modeling on stretched or modified Womp or Sprints Plus chassis. The chassis for these Hot Laps Racing bodies may well be modified too. I don't know because I didn't look too hard beyond finding the link.
