When a slot car has the pivot point for the guide even with or behind the front wheels that doesn't make sense to me and I think cars scrub off more speed in the corners this way. Whenever possible I mount the guide at least 1/2" ahead of the front axle. Maybe this doesn't matter for magnet racing on plastic track, but on an oval I like my cars to be able to 'step out' a bit in the turns.
That reminds me, wasn't there a post on here awhile back about a guide system that allowed the guide to move from sise-to-side a little? Anyone try or using that?
