Project Hudson Hornet

Postby HomeRacingWorld » Sun Apr 16, 2017 7:35 pm

Been working on this for awhile and had some time today to make progress.

Started with this kit from Moebius, very nice kit.

Image

Image

Chassis is basic as usual. Square brass with piano wire supports on the sides. JK motor bracket.

Image

Chassis finished and painted. Used Duplicolor gunmetal.

Image

To set the body height, I sandwiched three popsicle craft sticks together and glued them with super glue.

Image

I sanded them as flush as I could and they created the ideal support for the body.

Image

For the body mounts, I took a paint stick and cut it as shown. Then I could place them inside the body on top of the chassis mounts.

Image

Image

Had a chance to use the super glue station! The angled picks were perfect for dripping a little glue where it was needed to tack them in place.

Image

Easy to drill and used long Carrera body screws.

Image

All clear. Had some fun with test laps, which I need to stop doing and get back at it.

That's a great Kit to start with Harry, The one I got from the general made one of the best handling cars I have. Your chassis looks a good bit better than mine though!
Nice work as always, and I look forward to the paint scheme on this one! tons of chrome too.

Nice Hudson build there Harry....Cool paint! But tell me...is there any correlation with the pork steaks I saw on the grill and now I see Curly's missing from the shop pics?... Huh...

Perfect paint job Harry! You really captured the light surface rust look.
There's a little bit of "Rat rod" in all of us.

All finished.

Here is the car that inspired the look.

Duplicolor Hampsted Green Metallic over red primer. Wet sanded with 2000 grit to expose primer for effect. Gofer racing decals.
