Re: It is cold outside

We're confused and happy here. Suddenly, yesterday, all the snow was gone, and today its 60F outside. Earlier this week we were struggling to keep it 68F inside the house!

Re: INDY CARS for HARRY!!

Honestly, guys... wasn't Indy better then? Real innovation from truly talented people. The talented folks today are buried under the tech folks who do "proof of concept" animations. I miss the cowboy hats and cigars.

Re: Shop truck w.i.p

Speakin' of which, do you happen to have the cruciform Dodge emblem/trim for the nose? They are easy to make once you have the "Dodge" lettering, if not. As far as that goes, I'll bet there are guys who reproduce it. They were made of aluminum, and kind of "clipped" on the louvre...

Re: Shop truck w.i.p

Its your choice, of course Bob, but the way it sits right now is dead perfect for that truck and all the others of that type in that era. You haven't mentioned paint. Want suggestions? Hate suggestions? C'mon, pleeeeze, Bob? Let us dream a little! I promise I won't reach back in my history and sugge...

Re: Carrera front headlight repair

That was an issue with the '32 Hot Rods. For them, it was almost impossible to fix them (they were in stalks either side of the radiator). All it took was a jolt in shipping or god help you, a roll upon de-slotting, and they were faulty, one or both headlights, never the tail lights. I was suspect t...

Re: I do a bit of resin casting...here is one for QM bodies

No idea what the car was with the odd wheels I'm remembering. The Halibrands you mentioned are correct without modification. I looked and looked and whatever that Vette was I am thinking of, probably a Salt Flats racer, it isn't one of the Duntovs, and I never found it. Just wanted to be sure my ear...

Re: I do a bit of resin casting...here is one for QM bodies

Yeah, Butch, THAT'S what holds us back. I feel better now I know.

Beautiful car. You should be very proud. As I remember, that car had unusual wheels of some sort. I'm too lazy to go look it up right now, are you going to cast parts for those, too?

Re: Classic Gar Vic find

I think so too. I'm looking into it. I find I am out of practice with clear bodies and I am a little intimidated. I've made two errors doing the masking so far.

Re: How Many (1/32) Slot Cars In Your Stable?

Update: I sold all of my HO stuff- over 700 cars, hundred's of chassis, track, etc.
Since then my 1/32 stock has increased to 1200+, but a much greater percentage of them are scratchbuilt now.

Re: Classic Gar Vic find

I got the body from Patto, and I am ready to build my own antique. But since the temperature in my slot car area is 18F!!! I'll have to postpone the work for now.

Re: Me vs Jagermeister

One of the best painters and all around good guys here at HRW was Lee, in Florida. He painted everything that would stand still in classic Gulf colors. Not only slot cars, but all kinds of stuff, including a snow scooter, or whatever they are called, and some household appliances. He once painted a ...

Re: Let it snow? How is the weather out there?

Sarge left Indiana to live away from the arctic temps, and he and I (and I think some others) searched out a spot that was nearby a good VA hospital. He went to NC, near Ft. Bragg, and it got really cold soon after he got there. We miss ya, David. Mt. Washington set a new record at -96F today. The r...

Re: Me vs Jagermeister

1. Yes, you are obsessed with orange (in a good way) 2. Wasn't that Opel V-8 a nice surprise, straight from the box? I have a different livery but I pullit out to run all the time, it seems. 3. For me, Jagermeister is best as a shot, immediately after swallowing beer, then a second swig of beer to c...
