Re: Paint? How important

It must have been beautiful. That NEVER happens when a paint job is crap.

Re: armco barriers

You can make it the same way the 1:1 ARMCOs are done. Just figure out your scale, position three hard rubber wheels side by side with one offset, and pull the thin(!) aluminum strips through the dye you made. Then all you have to do is cut the excess off each side with scissors. You could also do th...

Re: Only In KY

It was my first year, and they told me, "This is Kentucky- don't preach about whiskey, don't preach about tobacco, and don't preach longer than 17 minutes, 'cause the game is on at noon." "Fine, I thought. I can have a good smoke on my pipe on the drive home, and sit in the yard and s...

Re: Professor Motor Upgrade

Yep, me too. I have had mine for years now, and although it is more sensitive to the same things as the old controllers, they are easy to care for, and make racing just that much more fun. Smooooooth!

Re: More Food Stuff

With very small alterations, that is old-fashioned Slumgullion, a country cookin' dish I first had in Mississippi when I was a boy. My mother says she had it many times during the Depression as a young girl. I looked it up once, and it actually comes from Gypsy subculture (the name), but is served a...

Re: Made it back

That's the thing I dread most with all this digital changeover. If the main computer is gone, I will lose everything. That's why I am building a massive data storage computer to use as an automatic backup. But the software is killing me. Of course, my youngest can talk me through it, I'm sure, but I...

Re: Just a question...

With an internet full of every conceivable form of porn, nudie pictures and anything else you could want, why subject yourself to stupid drivel? Incidentally, gentlemen, I call your attention to a scholar in out midst. Tech Sgt Retired has just quoted John Adams, at the 2nd Continental Congress, whe...

Re: I just learned a valuable lesson...

I like the "boss" voltage adjustment on each lane idea. That's worth doing and easy. Like David, I keep a box of visitor cars that are indestructible, but fun looking. Those indestructible Scalextrics are great to repaint for this purpose. The worst we had was a drunk slopping a drink on t...

Re: 2012 1st Ever Truck Proxy Race

I blew it. I tried to finish another truck and just pay extra to send them both on short delivery, but I finished this afternoon, and when I got to the UPS outfit, The cost knocked me out. Now instead of sending two, I'm sending none. I'm sorry, guys. I blew it. But here they are, anyway, and I'll p...

Re: GVSCC Targa Florio Proxy

I know I'm too far away and too old to be any help, but it does sound to me like you are in the position a lot of our HRW guys have been in-- facing a big move that means moving an elaborate hand-made track. Do you have any help? That is a big job, man. Something like that is when I hope people have...

Re: Proper use of an erector set for slot car tires

Its been about ten years now, but when we were doing 1/24th Modifieds on a D-oval, we used to chuck the wheel and tire on an axle in a drill press, and use Permatex black Adhesive Sealant, part 16B. My method was to dab the tire in three places, then start the drill press (set for the slowest speed,...
