Re: Finally...a food topic! Dressing or Stuffing?

Stuffing cooks inside the bird, dressing is an older dish, from the time when meals were cooked over an open flame. The dressing is a "rough" (quick) bread dish, like cornbread or oatmeal bread (no yeast), lots of seasoning, and drenched after baking with a light sauce or gravy. I use chic...

Re: Fly stub axles

Here's the best procedure we have ever had for Fly: nope. I guess I misunderstood something about our move here. I thought I could link to an excellent article from the past, but nothing seems to work... If one of you moderators is looking over my shoulder here, the thing I'm trying to link us to is...

Re: Fly stub axles

Thanks, Harry. That's still the only way for some of the front motor Flys.

Re: Fly stub axles

I tried using the brass inserts and lined them up with a drill blank and that worked well. Slotpoor's article has all the goodies in it, motor, fixing gears, weight distribution, body rub problems, all kinds of stuff. It came from our rules which allow only tire swaps, the rest has to be stock, but ...

Re: Hey Rob - Did you ever finish those Hudsons?

They are painted, but that's all. The parent's strokes have screwed up all my chores and pleasures. For a couple of weeks, I was not only getting folks in and out of bed and diapers, then into wheelchairs, I was also cooking for both families and getting my youngest ready to move, then he broke his ...

Re: Did anyone find a lower voltage motor for the Carrera

When the big black '47 Oldsmobile came out, I swapped in an old 26D motor with great success, but they aren't that easy to find!

Re: Fly stub axles

Yep. That would have been easier (and way smoother), but for us, the rule was stock wheels only, so things got a bit fiddly, then Rod came up with his article and everything just took off. I should have mentioned that for the Lolas, the lack of need for stub axles makes for an easy axle insertion, a...

Re: Monogram Petty Plymouth!

Sure enough. I thought the taillights looked wrong, and they are just fine. I think what has happened is that people my age see that era as what cars are supposed to look like and today's anonymous jellybeans as soulless, and indistinct from each other. The huge taillights of today were such a contr...

Re: Finally...a food topic! Dressing or Stuffing?

Stuffing and dressing are completely different things. Stuffing is extremely moist to help prevent drying of the bird being roasted. Dressing has never had anything to do with the inside of the bird. It has always been baked outside the bird, at first in a closed tin in the coals of the fire, then i...

Re: Finally...a food topic! Dressing or Stuffing?

One more thing... Don't confuse Northeastern "Oyster Dressing" with the traditional kinds. There are things to be done for unbelievably tasty oyster dressing that are completely outside the normal idea of dressing. Its so good, you might want to forget the rest of the meal. Its like a real...

Re: NINCO Austin Healey "Sport Red"

I wondered when I posted about the surprising build quality, if Murphy's Law was going to come around and smack me. Yep. I got the Jaguar XK120 in the mail today, and sure enough, Ninco hasn't changed, I just got lucky with the Austin Healys. The Jaguar on the track does the same old Ninco Hoppin' a...

Re: SCC 73 Porsche RSR IROC Proxy Round 4 at BSMS in NH

This is already shaping up to be a funny one. I love the idea of people fixing Jeremy's car so it doesn't do what he wanted it to do. That's hilarious. But keeping the work of art building off the track while this is going on is even more hilarious!
