Re: Primer and paint questions

Like I told you a month ago, paint meant for scale models works better on models than paint meant for lawn furniture. And yellow is a bitch. The darker the shade of yellow, the easier it is to get a good finish. Its a test of your self-discipline. Thin coats, properly timed, at least two, followed b...

Re: A Question of Scale(s)...

I've never understood the mindset behind some of these "intentionally wacko" scales. Ninco did a ridiculous 1/28th presentation a few years back (zero chance), and Vanquish made their cars in 1/30th, and considering what great cars they were, in 1/32nd, they might be giants today, instead ...

Re: Joining MDF end to end

It should be kept in mind in this discussion, that really elaborate road tracks usually have great (if delicate) scenery. If you want to be able to disassemble the track, better make the breaks "scenery friendly".

Re: Petty's Torino in progress

Given the many different shades of blue that were "Petty Blue" over the decades, at least three of which were on this car at one time or another, just about anything will come close to one of them. This picture is so old it was my old camera and I have no idea what the paint was except tha...

Re: Petty's Torino in progress

Ha! I actually still have a 1/24th Petty '64 Plymouth Fury body that was painted Testor's Light Blue in frustration.

Re: Petty's Torino in progress

You might be a lot happier with these quality decals in a double set.

Re: Petty's Torino in progress

Those look custom painted to me, as the outrageous price would attest. I didn't find any of those in the many years of Carrera catalogues I saved.

Re: GTX mold thread

I have never seen that standard Torino before. If I saw it, I would have assumed it was a Canadian version. Frankly, I like it better as a car to drive, but for slot cars I seldom do a street version of anything.

Re: Petty's Torino in progress

That crossed my mind, too. I have been thinking about doing some research into USAC cars. When NASCAR began the slow decent into what it is today, USAC was still fun. I have fun memories of USAC on TV, especially Pike's Peak. And I have a lot of duplicate bodies in my resin and Carrera stash. Wouldn...

Re: GTX mold thread

What a gorgeous car. I'm right there with ya. Fun to dream, although I really liked the Windsor engine better. I used Windsor heads on my 289 Mustang and would have kept that engine if I could when I sold it. Today, I saw a first-year Monte Carlo on a used car lot for next to nothing. It had stupid ...

Re: Petty's Torino in progress

Its a silly thing, but it has always bothered me to see the side exhaust coming out with no plate above it on the body to prevent paint burn. I always paint them on.

Munter is John Warren from New Zealand. Probably one of the best sources for you right off the top of his head, but I'll look at my resources and see if I can get lucky.

Re: Vintage Aurora 1/32 Ford GT

Hmmm. Complete with the artistic "what the world looks like when you wear a stocking over your head to rob a liquor store" special photography. Very nice.
