Re: Carrera GTO chassis

I forgot that. Randy's correct. I have all 3 in my box. Damn. How did I forget that? As for chipping, you should be able to just use longer wire, but check with the digital guys in case I'm full of crap (there's an HRW topic specially for that). This topic tends to be all about the 98% of 1/32nd tha...

Re: TGIF! - Relax a little

HA! As opposed to "Jared's" from the sickeningly repetitive commercials this time of year. I finally got it.

Re: OttLite Mini Magnifier

That looks worlds and away better than the junk I have bought over the years from Ottlite, who could care less if you contact them about their bad materials and junk packaging. It took 2 days in my shop to fix one of my wife's Christmas presents last year from them. I suspect that being small and pl...

Re: TGIF! - Relax a little

Oh, like accueil chaleureux. I get it now. So close to Quebec... Christian is rubbing off on you, Dickie.

Seriously, when I lived in London, Ontario, our weather was nearly the same as it is here, the winter just lasted a lot longer... and they were so polite, eh!

Re: NEW motor mount/bracket for scratching??

Yep, the forged version (squared off, rabbited bottom edge for soldering), is also more fragile than this one. I broke one of the forged ones in half once, but these sheet metal brass ones are tough. Both have had the offset for many years.

Re: Special Guest in MN

Hmmmm... David without salad... Taking into account it is winter and only total weirdos eat salads in cold weather, carry the pickle and multiply by a fat burger patty, lettuce, cheese, secret sauce, and a seedy-assed bun... yep, just as I thought. You guys drugged him with more real food than he is...

Re: TGIF! - Relax a little

We're at 3 inches and still coming down. Our snowfall this time has been kept fairly shallow by having periods of sleet and freezing rain all along. Looking for 6 inches total by morning, but 41 degrees on Sunday.

Re: Joining MDF end to end

I've seen a lot of tracks over the years, joined with plates, tenons, dowels, all kinds of stuff. The examples here are the best there is. MDF can split unexpectedly when you don't think its stressed at all, so plates, tenons, dowels, etc just can't come out well, especially on an overhead.

Re: Looking Back: "The Deuce" 32 Ford

I had forgotten that one was yours, Harry. I don't remember... was it your bright idea to cut up an H&R chassis as a convenient and efficient bracket? That was the source and basis for hundreds of cars some of mine included.

Re: TGIF! - Relax a little

Thanks. A friend of mine in Memphis bought a fine old house that appeared to be in remarkable, original condition in 1981. He and his wife moved into one bedroom and the kitchen and spent over a year finding out how wrong they were about the condition of the old house. It was original, all right. No...

Re: How do you race?

You remind me of something funny that happened once in our group. I was intensely concentrating and doing well, about halfway through a heat, and suddenly took the slightest flick and was off the track instantly. In my excitement, I called out, "SLOT!" instead of "track", and we ...

Re: TGIF! - Relax a little

Sleeting here. Winter finally showed up after a long warm Autumn. Just in time for me to have another episode with my heart, dammit. I suspect it does this as soon as there is any threat of snow shovelling in the offing.
