Re: Rep.acement car help

Yeah, just for perspective, the standard 300 C.I. inline six (the "Stump Puller"), by Ford converts to 5.0L, the 360 c.i. V-8 is a 6.0L, and the big boy of the Ford trucks, the 460 c.i. is 7.5L. My '67 F-100 had the six, my '70 F-100 had the 360, and the 3/4 ton '73 F-150 I had last had th...

Re: Rep.acement car help

I'm with Bob on this one, too. The Explorer is really a Mazda Tribute with Ford labels and Ford alterations, all of which were bad. I'd go with the Odyssey, never read anything bad about it. Still going with Honda. But look very closely at the Ridgeline before you decide on it. It isn't a truck, the...

Re: TGIF - Great Weekend Ahead

I was raised with the real commemorative day, May 30th. That was the day each year when we went to two graveyards to leave flowers and small flags for members of my family, killed in the Civil War (one on each side, cousins). When the holiday became a remembrance of all killed in wars in the US forc...

Re: Jaguar XK120

Whoa! Where's Sarge? He and I are both nuts for this era of sports cars. You did a great job on a classic. Aren't those taillights a bear to do? I've probably done and had to re-do those rascals more than anything else I model.

Re: Cortina under developement

Its fun when a crazy idea bubbles up in the brain. A few years ago I got this crazy idea to make a Cougar Station Wagon, and a race version at that. Its still some of the most fun I've had building. My first idea was to make it a Ute!

Re: Molotow Chrome Marker Pens!

Aw man. That is gonna be a huge change in the slot car world.

I discovered today that the chrome pen works especially well over black, just like the stuff I used to use. I can't remember the name right now, but "over black" was in the instructions.

Re: Molotow Chrome Marker Pens!

Mark, are you saying somebody opened the pen and got the liquid out and used it through an airbrush?

Re: BOBBY ALLISON 1969 COCA COLA MERCURY CYCLONE

Yup. I can tell you from experience, that's Tamiya Gold and Tamiya Italian Red. I did the Monte Carlo version of the car. It will be the prize of your collection.

Re: Molotow Chrome Marker Pens!

Yeah, I kind of like my battle scars, too. I built the car my team used for an Enduro a few years back (a Scaley '69 Camaro), and when I brought it home, it had no bumpers, or mirrors, and the front was full of cuts and chips. The roof was scratched badly, and the spoiler as well as the rear end wer...

Re: chrome paint pens

When we first heard about them, I tested them on raw plastic, painted plastic, chromed plastic, wood, and Mylar.

Flawless. I love these things.

Re: A tribute to an iconic family car

Once again, our lives parallel. The 1940 Ford in my life was when I was a baby. My folks had a '40 Ford when I was a baby, and they were transferred from Ft. Benning, GA to Ft. Knox, KY. Dad drove us all the way (in August!!!), and mother had to keep rotating wet towels for his head, it was so hot t...

Re: TGIF - Mothers Day

Mother's Day each year means we made it, financially. My youngest has a birthday on the 14th of April, mine is the 20th, my wife's is the 28th, our anniversary the 22nd (45 years this time), and Mother's Day is the middle of May. That's a solid month of presents to buy. I always want to self-congrat...
