Re: Tubalcain

Oh yeah. It was Virgil Cain that worked on the Danville train 'til so much cavalry came and tore it all down again.

Good link. I only got through two on the first visit, but I'll soak 'em all in eventually.

Re: Home Made Dynomometer

That's intense. How is it better than something as simple and cheap as what DynoTom built first and I built second? Ours don't need a computer, for one thing.

Re: Tubalcain

I always wondered about that phrase and one other, in the top ten version. Seemed awkward. About shop class... I loved shop. When the Fed contribution to education was slashed for Starwars garbage, we lost something really wonderful that made people feel self-sufficient, whether they ever used those...

Re: Odd Scalextric Mustang Observation!

Very odd, and suspicious. Here's more mystery on the subject-- I bought the same car on the same sale at the same vendor, and mine is perfect in every way, and I looked hard for faults after reading this. Furthermore, like every Scaley I ever had, there was no seal or anything like a seal. If anythi...

Re: 1\24

I was spending so much on H&R stuff, I called a halt to any more kits in the scale. Then I learned I could make four different kinds of chassis with equipment I had on hand or could make myself, I'm doomed. But 1/32 is my scale. Sports and GT in Europe from the 1960s is my main interest, with a ...

Re: Carrera Lee Petty 1960 Plymouth Fury

Mine was fine straight from the box, which surprised me. I lowered the guide slightly, and put urethane tires on the rear, and glued the motor solidly in its cradle. Of course, like everything, I trued the wheels first.

Re: Odd Scalextric Mustang Observation!

That doesn't explain the "seal" on the box. I suspect the car was sold here in the US, returned in bad shape, partially repaired, and sealed to keep parts from falling out.

Re: Odd Scalextric Mustang Observation!

Mine are soldered at the motor, clipped at the guide. There is more side to side axle slip than normal, and these are the worst wheels to press with those tiny spokes. Normally, I would just insert a split ring nylon spacer on both sides, but this is too much and makes body rub happen just a little....

Re: Tubalcain

Bibbster, my father is an architect. His buildings are all over Memphis. Be glad you went another way. My father is no prince, but even I felt sorry for him watching architecture become what it is today. I used to do some drawings for him, mostly plot plans and easy stuff, and I did a lot of scale c...

Re: Finally...a food topic! Dressing or Stuffing?

We came close once-- I lived for 3 years in London South, right down the road from you. I even worked for the famous Turner Drug Store as a boy.

Checking in...

So many of my friends here on HRW were so helpful and kind when the ordeal with my father began in early June (ironically, June 6th, D-Day, our first sign that his brain was effected when he didn't know why the 6th of June was important), I thought it was appropriate for me to tell what has happened...

Re: Professor Motor Conversations - Part 2

Excellent news. And I might add, Andy appears to be well past his health troubles of a few years ago. He's back on top again for sure. I still don't get it about the these guides. In our little Porsche IROC, I mentioned I hadn't had much experience with broken guides, and then when my car got to a t...

Re: Professor Motor Conversations - Part 2

Yep. that's what happened. Dungeonracer included a photo of the broken guide, and it was dead flush with the deck.
